Thread Gages, Wires & Standards
Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. provides measuring tools for identifying the thread pitch of a fastener and tools for checking the accuracy or tolerance of the thread.
A Thread Gage or Thread Pitch Gage is a tool that is used to identify the pitch of a threaded fastener. Thread Gages work simply by laying a leaf with a referenced pitch on it into the thread of a fastener until you find the leaf that fits correctly into that thread. These gages are used only to identify the thread pitch and not for determining the tolerance of the thread.
Thread Measuring Wires are sets of three wires made to precise tolerances that are used for determining the pitch diameter of a known thread pitch with the use of a micrometer.
Thread Plug Gages are externally threaded inspection tools that are used to check the acceptability of a finished internal thread. They come in two piece sets often referred to as Go/No Go Plug Gage. The finished thread should accept the Go Gage. In most cases the No Go Gage should not enter the internal more than two threads from either end. But, there are certain cases where it is acceptable for a No Go Gage to fully engage the finished thread.
Thread Ring Gages are internally threaded inspection tools that are used to check the acceptability of a finished external thread. They come in two piece sets often referred to as Go/No Go Ring Gage. The finished thread should accept the Go Gage. In most cases the No Go Gage should not go onto the external thread more than two threads. But, there are certain cases where it is acceptable for a No Go Gage to fully engage the finished thread.
Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. also provides cylindrical high precision working gage standards used to verify/compare dimensional accuracy. These hardened steel rods are helpful in setting micrometers, snap gauges, comparators, and dial bore gauges. Use to set gaps, identify holes, or as go nogo gauges when ordered to pairs.
