Taps & Dies
Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. offers a wide range of Metric and British taps and dies.
Taps are used to create an internal thread. Taps come in many different styles for use in different applications and for different materials. Thread cutting taps will cut threads into a hole creating chips that can either be pushed forward or pulled up out of the hole. There are also taps that will cut a hole and create a thread all at one time. Thread rolling taps will form a thread in soft material without creating any chips.
Dies are used to create an external thread. Metric & Multistandard carries thread cutting dies which create a thread by removing material from a shaft. We have both round dies and hex dies.
Taps and dies can also be used to repair lightly damaged threads depending on how damaged the threads are and how critical the application.
