DIN 479 Square Head Screws have a small square head that is equal to or just slightly larger than the diameter of the screw thread. The thread comes up very close to the head and there is a short dog point on the end of the screw.

DIN 479 Square Head Screws are sometimes called Square Head Set Screws. Metric Square Head Screws are meant to engage a surface at the tip of screw. These screws can be used to level an object, as an adjustment screw or as a set screw.
