Self-Locking Pal Type Nuts
DIN 7967 is a stamped sheet metal self-locking counter nut. Self-Locking Pal Type Nuts are used on top of pre-tightened hex nuts to help the nut resist loosening under vibration. When tightened the metric Self-Locking Counter Nut will deform and small protrusions jam into the bolt threads.

Assembly instruction according to DIN 7967 are to turn the Self-Locking Counter Nut by hand until it is tight then finish tightening by turning with a wrench an additional ¼ to ½ turn.
