Prevailing Torque Metal Locknuts

Prevailing Torque All Metal Locknuts are six sided internally threaded fasteners that have deformed threads that act as a locking component to keep it from loosening under normal operations.

The locking thread can be created different ways: with a conical top that has been crimped or that contain distorted threads; or by punching the top or the side of the nut of finished hex nut to distort the threads.

Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. carries DIN 980V All Metal Locknuts in zinc plated steel and stainless steel.  All Metal Locknuts should not be installed with any power tools. The increased friction created with turning a Locknut with a rotary tool such as an air ratchet or impact tool can damage the threaded components causing an undesirable situation where either the nut becomes seized onto the external thread or locking element is damaged.
