Hydraulic Straight Connectors

Hydraulic straight connectors are used to connect seamless hydraulic tubing to a machine, motor, piece of equipment or bulkhead. The straight connectors offered by Metric & Multistandard are compression type fittings. They have a nut and a sleeve (ferrule) on the end that is connected to the hydraulic tubing. That end of the fitting is paced over the end of the tubing. The nut is tightened, which compresses the sleeve, and the connection between the connector and the tubing is sealed.

Straight connectors bring the tubing in directly to the mating piece of equipment at what is basically a 90 degree angle to the equipment itself. The end of the hydraulic connector that goes into the machinery is a male threaded end, which matches the female end in the equipment. The male ends come in a variety of threads, depending upon the diameter of the tubing that is being connected and the pressure rating. Metric and Multistandard has hydraulic straight connectors for hydraulic tubing with the following male threaded ends:
Metric straight thread, metric tapered thread, British straight or parallel thread (BSP), British tapered thread (BSPT), and National Pipe tapered (NPT), which is U.S. pipe thread.

The metric pipe threads are called out by the actual diameter and thread pitch. The British and U.S. pipe threads are called out by a nominal diameter and actual thread pitch. The British and U.S. pipe threads are similar but not identical and they are not interchangeable. The British pipe threads are fully integrated into the ISO thread system, and are often designated with a “G” or “R” .

In addition to these various male threaded ends, the hydraulic straight connectors come in three different pressure ratings. There is LL for light pressure, L for medium pressure, and S for heavy pressure. The pressure rating depends upon the diameter and thickness of the hydraulic tubing that is being used in the application.

Hydraulic straight connectors are available in Steel with zinc plating, A4 (316) Stainless steel, and in Brass to match the material of the hydraulic tubing that is being connected. Technical details, dimensions and further information for the hydraulic unions can be found in the Tubing & Fittings section of the Metric & Multistandard catalog.
