Hexagon Head Thread Forming Screws 7500 D
Hexagon Head Thread Forming Screws have a hexagon shaped head and a trilobular shaped thread which will displace material to form a thread as it is driven into an unthreaded pilot hole. Because no material is removed Thread Forming Screws create a tight fit with the mating part and normally do not require the use of a lock washer to prevent it from loosening.
Thread Forming Screws are useful in large scale production since they allow for rapid insertion, can be used in blind holes, and do not require a mating nut or tapped hole.
After a Thread Forming Screw has been used in a hole if necessary it can be replaced with a regular machine screw.
Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. carries DIN 7500D which often will have a small flange on the head to make them easier to be driven into the mating material with the use of a drive socket.
